The book is the giver by Louis Lowery. The setting is in the future . The conflict is Jonas finding out that his dad was killing baby’s. One main lesson is be careful. it is important to be careful because you never know how your actions will affect the future. For example Jonas requested to see his dad preform the let go of the new child and ended up running away.
The author shows that your actions have consequences at the beginning of the story by the following. When Jonas was younger he said “I’m starving” and got scolded because that was a lie very punishable in their community is . Another reason is Jonas stopped taking the “pills” and his dreams returned. Their community thought that the dreams were a bad thing but really it was a form of population control [witch is a bad thing in our time].
In the middle of the story examples of being careful are the following reasons. Jonas was worrying about being skipped over and everyone was yelling at them at the announcer.” she skipped me, Jonas thought, stunned”. In the end everything turned out fine and Jonas became the receiver.” you will be trained to be our new receiver of memories, Jonas we thank you for your childhood” Being careful does not always mean about bad stuff.
In the end of the story some examples of being careful are the following. Jonas requesting to see his dad release the new child because Jonas ended up running away. Another reason is Jonas taking the baby with him when he ran. The baby made him use up a lot of his col memories when the search jets came. One following reason is traveling at night and resting during the day. He used the night time as a cover and in the day he uses the cold memories when the search plans come by.
In conclusion we saw that they were very strict about telling the truth as seen in paragraph 2. another thing that we saw was him worrying about being skipped but it ended up ok. One finale thing we saw was Jonas bringing the baby as well which depleted his food supply as well as his cold memory supply.
